“Energy-Efficient Computing in Datacenters” by Tajana Šimunić Rosing, Associate Professor, Computer Science; Director, System Energy Efficiency Lab In this talk Dr. Rosing will give an overview of how we utilized NSF GreenLight infrastructure to design new strategies for energy management in large scale systems. Her group’s virtualization management system, vGreen, is capable of guaranteeing SLAs for performance sensitive applications while increasing energy efficiency dramatically. Furthermore, their cooling management algorithm proactively assigns and moves the workload to ensure the effective use of the cooling subsystem with minimal performance overhead. It can deliver cooling savings that exceed 80 percent.
